BC-25c 1937 Canada $20 Coyne-Towers, K/E, VF
The 1937 notes within the Bilingual Series were the first to include both French and English on a single note (English on the right-side and French on the left). This change occurred as it began to be too expensive to print separate notes and was featured on all denominations from the $1 to $1000 note.
In addition to this new Bilingual feature, the 1937 series was also the first time the Bank of Canada transitioned to the two-letter prefix, written as a fraction.
Specifications:
Face Design: At centre, H.M. King George VI
Back Design: Value of note (20) on left and right, Fertility allegory: seated female with sickle at centre
Vignette Design: Painting by A.E. Foringer
Printer: CBN
Signatures: J.E. Coyne, G.F. Towers
Quantity Printed: 20,000,000
Information taken from: A Charlton Standard Catalogue, Canadian Government Paper Money, 34th Edition, J. Rutkowski, Editor
