Ancient Rome 117-138AD Hadrian Silver Denarius, Reverse Justitia Seated EF-AU (EF-45)

Born Publius Aelius Hadrianus in Italica, Hispania Baetica (near modern-day Seville in Spain), Hadrian was Roman Emperor from 117 to 138AD, and is best known for consolidating the empire's borders, focusing on administration, and promoting cultural and architectural advancements. Unlike his predecessors, Hadrian abandoned expansionist policies, instead fortifying Rome’s frontiers, most notably with Hadrian’s Wall in Britain. A lover of Greek culture, he traveled extensively, overseeing infrastructure projects, including the Pantheon’s reconstruction. His rule emphasized justice, stability, and military efficiency, earning him a reputation as one of the "Five Good Emperors." Hadrian’s later years were marked by health struggles, and he was succeeded by Antoninus Pius in 138 AD.

Obverse: Laureate bust of Hadrian facing right, accompanied by inscriptions denoting his imperial titles.
Reverse: Justitia seated facing left, holding a patera (a shallow bowl) and a scepter, symbolizing her role in dispensing justice.
