2024 P Missouri USA American Innovation Dollar Uncirculated (MS-60)
The United States Mint American Innovation $1 Coin Program is a multi-year series honoring innovation and innovators with $1 coins from each State, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Northern Mariana Islands. The American Innovation $1 Coins in the rolls and bags were minted at the Philadelphia and Denver Mints. The Illinois coin is the fourth and final coin of 2024.
On the reverse side of each new coin is a design depicting George Washington Carver gently smiling while examining a sample of his work in his laboratory. The leaves, blossoms, and fruits of a peanut plant weave between scientific equipment. Inscriptions include “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “MISSOURI,” and “GEORGE WASHINGTON CARVER.”
All coins in the series feature the same obverse (heads side) design, depicting the Statue of Liberty in profile. This design also incorporates a privy mark symbolizing industry and innovation with a stylized gear, which undergoes slight annual changes. The inscriptions on the coin include "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "$1." The obverse design was created by Artistic Infusion Program Artist Justin Kunz and sculpted by Medallic Artist Phebe Hemphill.
