The reverse of this 2024 2oz coin depicts a Woolly Mammoth. In this image, we see his giant curved tusks and open jaw. This thrilling design is credited to Julius Csotonyi, a paleoartist based in Canada. Next to the design you will find a micro-engraving security feature that consists of a maple leaf and the number 24, corresponding to the year of release. The effigy of His Majesty King Charles II by Canadian artist Steven Rosati graces the obverse.

The Woolly Mammoth
The giant of the Ice Age, the woolly mammoth makes its presence known as it steps across the second release in this bullion coin series featuring prehistoric portraits. A megafauna from Canada’s prehistoric past, Mammuthus primigenius stood over three meters tall at the shoulder and weighed as much as 8 tonnes (17,600 lbs). It is easily recognized by the long, curved tusks that are some of the most distinctive fossils of Canada’s Ice Age.
