2023 Canada 5-cents King Charles III First Strikes Special Wrap Roll of 40pcs
Please note that these rolls may be double-headed (King on either side of the roll)
The coins in this roll are among the first 2023-dated circulation coins struck at the Royal Canadian Mint’s Winnipeg facility, and this year’s set holds the distinction of being the first of its kind to feature the new Canadian effigy of His Majesty King Charles III.
In keeping with tradition, His Majesty King Charles III’s profile faces left on each coin’s obverse—this is the opposite direction in which the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II was depicted during her reign.
The previous effigy update was in 2003, when the fourth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II was debuted on Canada’s coins. The more informal depiction was designed by Vancouver-based artist Susanna Blunt.
The five-cent coin’s beaver design dates back to 1937, but the animal is a centuries-old icon that is synonymous with Canada's early history.
Specifications:
Composition: Three-ply brass finish plated steel
Weight: 3.95 g (per coin)
Diameter: 21.20 mm (per coin)

Artist: G.E. Kruger-Gray (reverse), Steven Rosati (obverse)

Each roll comes wrapped in the Royal Canadian Mint's premium paper that includes an illustration of the reverse design, and sealed with a holographic label.
