2022 Canada 50-cents Brilliant Uncirculated (MS-63)
The 50-cent coin is Canada's most elusive circulation piece: the denomination is minted each year, but since it isn't used for everyday transactions, it rarely shows up in your pocket change.
The 2022-dated 50-cent coins feature Canada's Coat of Arms, which was adopted by proclamation of King George V in 1921 and first appeared on the 50-cent piece in 1937. Each coin's obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
The 50-cent coin's classic Arms of Canada design was last updated 25 years ago. Canada's Coat of Arms was modified in 1994 to include the motto of the Order of Canada, Desiderantes Meliorem Patriam (Latin for "they desire a better country"); the motto was also added to the 50-cent coin's version of the Arms, and the first pieces to include this new addition were struck in 1997.
Specifications:
Composition: Three-ply nickel plated steel
Weight*: 6.9 g
Diameter: 27.13 mm
Face Value: 50-cents
Finish: Circulation
Edge: Serrated
Artist: Susanna Blunt (obverse)
