The causes and battles of the War of 1812 are little remembered by Canadians, but the conflict saw small numbers of British troops, Canadian militia, and allied Indigenous warriors hold off repeated American invasions of Ontario and Quebec and safeguard Canada's independent future. Would you believe that tall ships did battle on Lakes Erie, Ontario, and Champlain, that smoke choked the streets of Toronto and cannon roared where now only the tumult of Niagara Falls is heard? This collection presents the visages of four heroes of the War of 1812, representing soldiers, civilians, Indigenous allies, and militia defenders.
You will receive both the coloured and non-coloured versions of the 25-cent Sir Isaac Brock, Tecumseh, Laura Secord, and Charles-Michel de Salaberry coins, as well as the HMS Shannon two dollar coin, in the RCM collector card folder. The coins may have been collected from circulation; the folder may have light wear. Image is an example of what you will receive.
