On February 23, 1909, a silver-winged flying object called the Silver Dart amazed onlookers at a frozen lake in Nova Scotia as the object flew approximately .5 meters or .8 kilometers to carry out the first flight in Canada. Designed and built Aerial Experiment Association (AEA), a Canadian-American aeronautical research group that was formed under the tutelage of Dr. Alexander Graham Bell, the Silver Dart made flight 50 times before it was destroyed during military trials. But it was a breakthrough since during that time, the value of flight during war was becoming an idea. True enough, after World War II, Canada became a leader in the aviation industry.
