2003-P Old Effigy 5-cent Original Roll of 40 pcs
The beaver's cultural and economic relevance in Canada is far-fetching, to say the least. In fact, the Hurons, a tribe in the north shore of Lake Ontario honoured them as a totem of their tribe hundreds of years ago. Continue the Canadian tradition of the beaver with this 2003 Old Effigy 5-Cent Original Roll of 40 Pieces. The reverse design of the coins was first used in 1937 and it features the work of Canadian artist G.E. Kruger Gray. The obverse design was created by Dora de Pedry-Hunt as well as Ago Aarand and it comes with an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. 2003 was the last year the Dora de Pedery-Hunt design of Her Majesty's effigy appeared in circulation on coins. This came after the Government of Canada announced that an updated version would appear on all Canadian circulation coins in honour of the 50th anniversary of the Queen's coronation. The coins included in this roll all contain the old effigy design.
