2000 Pride - January Commemorative 25-Cents Original Roll
Open to all Canadians, The Royal Canadian Mint held a contest in which contestants were asked to submit designs for 24 millennium 25-cent coins, one for each month of the year from 1999 to 2000. The coins for the 1999 year were meant to reflect on the country’s past while the 2000 designs looked to the future. The design chosen for the 25-Cent January Pride Coins was designed by Donald F. Warkentin. The coin features a maple leaf, adorned with a flowing ribbon and three smaller maple leaves to mark the year 2000. It is surrounded with the bilingual inscriptions "CANADA" and "PRIDE 2000 FIERTÉ". Each roll contains 40 Royal Canadian Mint issued 25-cent coins for circulation.
