2000 Celebration - July Commemorative 25-Cents Original Roll
Open to all Canadians, The Royal Canadian Mint held a contest in which contestants were asked to submit designs for 24 millennium 25-cent coins, one for each month of the year from 1999 to 2000. The coins for the 1999 year were meant to reflect on the country’s past while the 2000 designs looked to the future. The design chosen for the 25-cent celebration coins included in this 2000 July Roll was created by Laura Paxton. It features the Canadian nation, under fireworks. It is surrounded with the bilingual inscriptions "CANADA" and "CELEBRATION 2000 CÉLÉBRATION" and is complemented by an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, created by Dora de Pédery-Hunt. Each roll contains 40 Royal Canadian Mint issued 25-cent coins for circulation.
