1997 Canada Winnipeg Proof Like Set

In 1997 the two dollar Polar Bear coin was added to the set. In mid-1997 the Royal Canadian Mint transferred production of the Brilliant Uncirculated Sets to the Winnipeg Mint. The Ottawa and Winnipeg issues of 1997 can be distinguished by the method of packaging and by the finish on the two dollar coins. Those produced in Ottawa have a brilliant or shiny Polar Bear whereas on coins produced at Winnipeg, the bear has a frosted appearance. In the Ottawa set, the $1.00 Loon is located at the top right, with the $2.00 Polar Bear at the top centre. In the Winnipeg Set, the $1.00 Loon is located at top left, with the $2.00 Polar Bear in the top centre. The coins are indicated by (O) for Ottawa and (W) for Winnipeg in the listings. No mint marks appear on the 1997 dated coins. The finishes on both sets (1997) are technically equal being Brilliant Relief on Parallel Lined background.
