The beaver is an icon in Canada, both as a cultural heritage and a commodity. In fact, hundreds of years ago, the Hurons, a tribe in the north shore of Ontario, honoured the mammal by making them their totem. Native people have also utilized the beaver emblem through time to manifest their treaties with the first colonies.
