The First one ounce maple leaf was issued in 1988. The design is a continuation of that used for gold maples.
The 1990 release of the Royal Canadian Mint's Canadian Silver Maple Leaf Coin comes with altered imagery compared to its previous versions. Even though the motifs of the obverse as well as the reverse design did not change, the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is regularly changed to reflect her present change. This 1oz. Silver Maple Leaf Coin comes sealed in a protective cover and may be lightly toned or have small toning spots.
