The Bluenose schooner is a celebrated racing vessel that traces its roots from Nova Scotia. However, it also made a name for itself as being an exceptional fishing vessel that built the reputation of the Grand Banks fishery, an international fishing ground in Canada's Newfoundland island.
It achieved immortality when artist Emanuel Hahn's 1937 Bluenose schooner design made it into the Canadian 10-cent coin to symbolize the country's exceptional fishing industry and the maritime skills of its citizens. It's complemented by an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse side.
Pay tribute to the Bluenose schooner and its significance to Canada with this Original Roll of 10-cents that was released in 1971.
