1970 Canada 5-cents Original Roll of 40 pcs
In Canada, the beaver is a cultural and economic icon. In fact, hundreds of years ago, the Hurons, a tribe in the north shore of Ontario, honoured the mammal by making them their totem. On top of this, during the 16th century, the demand for beaver pelts was tremendous and this contributed to the country's economic growth. Because of its significance to the country, the beaver design made its way to the Canadian currency in 1937, particularly in the 5-cent coin. In 1965, the obverse design of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was introduced. Here, Her Majesty looked more mature and donned a tiara. The reverse comes with an image of a beaver that rose from the water. Commemorate the beaver's contributions to the great nation of Canada with this roll of beaver nickel coin from the Canadian Mint, which was released in 1970.
