1865 USA 2 Cents Extra Fine (EF-40)

The United States 2 Cent coin was produced for circulation from 1864 to 1872. The motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" appeared for the first time on this coin. As other coins such as the nickel was more popular, mintages decreased each year of production, until it was abolished in 1873, and large quantities were redeemed by the government and melted.

Obverse: A shield within a wreath, the United States motto in ribbons at top, and date below.
Reverse: Denomination within wheat ears, country name around.
