2013 Canada $10 Winter Scene Fine Silver Coin (TAX Exempt)
Whiling away the winter hours skating on an outdoor pond is as Canadian as the maple leaf. This special coin celebrates one of the greatest joys of a Canadian winter.
This coin is certified to be 99.99% pure silver with a diameter of 34 millimetres and a weight of 15.87 grams. The reverse image by Canadian artist Remi Clark features a colourful painted winter scene. In the foreground, stylized figures-including parents, grandparents, and small children-skate and sled across a frozen pond. The children, bundled against the winter cold, dart across the ice, scarves flying behind them.
The pond is surrounded by soft round snowbanks lined with snow-covered evergreen trees. In the background, snowy paths carved out of the white hillsides lead to cozy homes, roofs piled with white snow. In the distant background, hilly blue highlands lead to a distant frozen field flanked by blue-white mountains in the distance. The reverse is engraved with the word 'CANADA,' the date '2013,' and the face value of '10 DOLLARS.' The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
