Coin Design Contest, these powerful images express the dreams and aspirations of a nation at the dawn of a new millennium - a legacy of hope for future generations.

For the new millennium, the Royal Canadian Mint released 12 unique quarters, one for each month. Each coin was struck to celebrate the millennium with an image expressing Canadian dreams and desires as they entered the years ahead.

The designs portrayed 12 themes. These include Pride, Ingenuity, Achievement, Health, Natural Legacy, Harmony, Celebration, Family, Wisdom, Creativity, Freedom, and Community. Each design was selected from more than 66,000 entries submitted by Canadians for the “Create a Centsation!” design contest. These powerful images were meant to leave a legacy of hope for future generations.

This 2000 Canada Specimen Millennium 25-Cent Set includes all twelve themed coins plus a special coin-sized medallion. Medallions are usually issued for commemorative, souvenir, or artistic purposes. This one features a map of Canada composed of maple leaves.
